Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Updated: Jan 27

JUMP TO RECIPE

I absolutely adore chewy oatmeal cookies! It feels like oatmeal cookies often get overlooked, but they’re honestly incredible. Every time I bake them, I’m reminded of just how much I enjoy them. These cookies are soft, perfectly chewy, and have an amazing texture. They’re delicious on their own, but the best part is you can customize them however you like—I’ve got tons of ideas to share!

The BEST Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal cookies might just be the unsung hero of the cookie world, but they’re hands down my favorite. This recipe is my ultimate go-to, delivering soft, chewy cookies every single time. Whether you enjoy them plain or jazz them up with chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, or even candy, they’re always a hit. Perfectly golden brown and packed with flavor, this might just become your favorite oatmeal cookie recipe—or even your favorite cookie ever!

TIPS & TRICKS:

You can make these cookies with a hand or stand mixer.

  • Use ROLLED OATS– not old-fashioned!

  • Be sure to cream your room temperature butter and sugar before adding any other ingredients. It should be nice and fluffy!

  • Whisk together your dry ingredients before adding to the wet ingredients.

  • Make these cookies any size ( I made my cookies about 3 tbsp, using a cookie scoop) or shape: you can make them small bite sized using a 1 tablespoon scoop.

  • How do you know when your cookies are done? They’ll be golden around the edges and have just lost that glossy sheen on top. Don’t over bake these – they’re better a little under done.

Delicious Add ins:

  • Chocolate chips, of course I used these, because I will simply add chocolate chips to whatever I can. I used semi-sweet in my recipe, however you could use bpth dark and white chocolate either.

  • Raisins, of course. The classic cinnamon raisin cookie, I love this too.

  • Candy, any works, my preference would be m&ms, with these you get a bit of candy texture while also the smoothness of chocolate.

  • Nuts and dried fruit, If your sweet tooth isn't as big as mine, adding these in give it a flavour profile that isn't too sweet

while also keeping the original taste of the cookie.
